ETFs Trading at a Discount With Hope [view article]
How are expenses calculated anyways? Can anyone point me out? Do I pay a transaction fee when I purchase ETFs? I'm asking this because I've been scalping a few ETFs. ReplyETFs Trading at a Discount With Hope [view article]
All the ones I checked at ETFconnect.com show a PREMIUM not a discount. ReplyJackson

Actually, I think the best thing that could happen is for the LDP to lose big in the upcoming elections, meaning they would lose control of the Upper and Lower Houses. The Lower House is more important because that is where budget control originates. If the LDP loses this, Japan will have its first truly two-party system--which we believe would work to make both parties mroe respondent to the voting public and help to elimnate over 40 years of pork barrel politics in the LDP. Since Junichi Koizumi retired from the Prime Minister's post, Japan's reform efforts have not only derailed, but there has been a serious backlash against reform and creative destruction on multiple levels. With all the talk about Sentaku being all the rage, do you think there's any chance the cycle's about to turn - especially with a LH election sometime in the next 17 months? Update: we just added the NETS (Northern Trust Exchange-Traded Shares) S&P/ASX 200 Index Fund (AUS) to the list, which covers Australian stocks.Index Universe explains that "the NETS family takes a slightly different approach to country investing than the iShares – Northern Trust has opted to use locally favored indexes in many cases, while iShares, the main existing provider of country-specific ETFs, tends to use MSCI’s country indexes, which are favored by institutional investors." I think the Nikkei will plunge another 50% or so in real terms before we hit a multi-decade bottom. However, I think this will happen sooner, rather than later:The Nikkei has been in a bear market for almost twenty year now and if my memory is correct, not one single stockmarket on the planet experiences a bear market of more than 20 years.
When the Japanese realize that a strong Yen is actually a good thing, provided it comes with productivity increases, the market will hit bottom and embarks on a multi-decade bull market. Reply

I have been reading about Japanese bargain stocks for years now. Yet, the stock market has been a dog for 20 years. ReplyBargain Hunting for Japanese Stocks [view article]
Hahaha!!! KNM is a great company and MGS_IV will be a hit nonetheless it will be an EXCLUSIVE to SNE so buying KNM shares because of the big Wii and XBox installed user base is laughable as no copy of that game will ever be played on such systems! ReplyEditors

Shorting gold stocks to go long physical gold is a suicide play. The gold stock beta vs physical gold is about 2. Perhaps that will change. Likewise, when jumping in front of a bus, perhaps the bus will stop in time. I wouldn't bet in favor of it though.Reply

To R GortonGood article!
You recommended buying gold vs. gold stocks, for retail investors, choices of investments, (e.g. effective ETFs) without owning physical gold of anything?
