Wonder why none of these guys would consider any of the inverse funds, be they stock, bond, currency, commodity, etc.? When you are in a Bear market, you should be either short, hedged, or out. I assume most would agree that we are in a Bear market. Could it be over? Yes. Could it get better? Yes. Could it get worse? Yes. Could it get much much worse? Of Course. Prieur has given timely advice to revert to common sense and caution in these tumultous times. Many experts at the bankers conference at Jackson Hole fear the worst but there are also large numbers of optimists who think that good times are round the corner like it used to be these last 20 years. Who knows but the problems in the US appear to be of the once in a generation or once in 3 generation type. Potentially serious but can never be sure. Hope for the best but prepare for the worst? I'd like to see the exchange rate adjusted returns as well. And to note also that Brazil was pretty much starting in the sub-basement to generate such returns. ReplyTotal Returns by Country Since March 2003 [view article]
Bespoke needs to go over to Gannett and hire an out-of-work copy editor to edit its copy. This is poorly written. What's being compared to what here? If the "MSCI World Index Local Currency" index is up 68%, how come the 22 listed components are up far more than 68% on a "total return" basis? Isn't this perhaps a story on currency inflation?
